Coffee Pots 'in series' for APR

Ahh, the intoxicating allure
of brewing coffee.
It tickles your nostrils and then
dances in,
leaving you powerless
to resist.

Coffee is my heart starter
in the mornings
and my goodnight kiss
in the evenings.

So, it is no wonder
that I have chosen
coffee pots
for this weeks theme
of 'in series'
for the Artist's Playroom.

Coffee is for anyone.

Whether it is brewed on a stove
in a tin pot
or served in cute
coffee pots for a morning tea,

for breakfast in a hotel

or when you want
to impress someone,

it never fails to bring people together.

Coffee does have a dark side though.
It comes in the form
of an innocent looking
coffee bean, covered in chocolate.
I call them the Sirens
of the coffee world.

Coffee beans lure you in
and you have just one,
then another
and again and again,
until it strikes
and the nasty monster,
caffeine,
grabs you
and you are a snivelling
hyped up mess on the floor.

But I digress,
coffee does that to you.

This weeks theme on APR is
in series and
I have painted
a series of coffee pots in watercolour.
I know it was intended that the series be on
one sheet but being the grot that I am,
I would have smudged one pot
while trying to paint
the other.
So better to be careful
and cut each on it's own bit of paper.

If you don't like the set out at the top,
how about this one?

Okay, so a photographer, I'm not.

On looking at this photo,
I might darken the purple
around the spout
on the flower pot,
it seems to disappear too much.

Oh and sometimes a girl just needs to go shopping,
not for shoes or clothes but for this.

I couldn't afford them
but hey, sometimes
a girls gotta do
what a girls gotta do!!

I can't wait to play with them.

While I open this magical lid
and stare at the contents
why not head on over to
and see what the other artists
have done.

I might just add on to Paint Party Friday too.

  1. Yay...you got the pencils Von! Congrats and who cares that you have to give up a few meals to cover the cost...it'll be worth it.
Now just keep me informed on how you go with them...I'm still getting to know mine and I'm not sure I'm doing the best with them.
And on to the coffee pots...they are fantastic. That silver posh one looks just like a photo. Are you sure you painted it? ;D
Brilliant work Von...but then you always do.
I'm off now to try and photograph my entry...maybe see you later.
Enjoy your coffee but even with those wonderful pots I'm going to stick with my cuppa tea fanks!

  2. Great coffee pots, the blue one should be in my kitchen. I couldn't do my series on one sheet either. I've heard so much about those pencils, maybe I will have to follow your lead and get some myself.

  3. Cudoos(sp!) on coffee comments and caffeinated collections! I also am a coffee lover, but only have one cup 100% Colombian every morning. Otherwise has to be decaf! I love your different serving pots, and congrats on getting your Inktense pencils!

  6. Your coffee pots are wonderful! If you drank all that coffee, however, wouldn't you be a bit shaky to work with your new Inktense pencils? *grin* I can't wait to see what you create with them. Eating is overrated, anyway. Happy PPF!

  27. The way you describe coffee so eloquently reminds me if my love affair with it, too. Like you, I drink it 24/7. Of course, I prepare mine in an automatic pot. Yours, on the other hand, are lovely and elegant. Love them ALL!!

  30. These are amazing coffe pots, Vonny. I thought they were photographs until I read you did them in watercolors. I kike clothes, but artist tools and supplies are definitely at the top of my list too. I'm off to get some coffee. Blessings!

  31. Wow these coffee pots are just--wow. Incredibly realistic and all so pretty. My faves are the metallic ones though I also like the floral. I see what you mean about adding a touch of purple to give the coffeepot the attention it deserves though.

And wow, watercolor pencils. I've never used them before though I'm soooo tempted. Enjoy them. With your talent, it would have been wrong not to invest in them.

Are those are water soluable ink pens?

  35. What an excellent series - each SO different. My fave is the blue tin or 'cowboy' looking pot and those silver ones are amazing. Coloring metal and having it LOOK like metal? I'm in awe. Really beautiful.

  36. These are great, such beautiful shades in the blue, and I love the way you've caught the reflecting light on the metallic ones! I'm a tea girl, myself, but can appreciate the beauty of a coffee pot.
