Gloopy fun for WOYWW

I've been having lots of fun this week.
Lately I've been seeing lots of people
playing with all sorts of mediums
and goops and since I only use
paints or pencils, I decided it's time
to join in the goopy fun.

The good news is that
goop (moulding paste)
washes off of skin
and out of hair.

I use more than one brush at a time when I paint
and I have a bad habit of holding the paint
brushes that I'm not using
in my mouth.
Starting to get the picture?

I had the brush full of goop and needed to move the canvas
so naturally I put the brush in my mouth
and suddenly I had gooped hair,
panicked and gooped my hand, arm,
you name it I gooped it.

Eventually I got it onto the canvas and
had a great time doing it.

Once it was hard, I started to paint and that's where my desk is today.

and the rest of it

You can see from this shot, that
when I think of it, I put the brushes
in the stand and not my mouth.
(Okay, the truth is, I put them there for the photo,
two of them were in my mouth!)

I wanted to give the hat lady some body
and that is where the goop came in.

I used a brush and my finger to create the hair
and used some of the non slip plasticy stuff
you can see under my painting to make the roughness for the hat.

I don't really care how the lady comes out

I just having heaps of fun playing.

Gloopy stuff rocks!!

~~SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT!!~~
Jenn at Just Add Water Silly
has discovered that some of us
(me included) left out a little step when setting up our blogs
and it has resulted in us being
NO REPLY BLOGGERS.
This essentially means that if we send someone a comment
and they reply, we won't receive that reply, it just goes to no mans world.
If you are worried that you might be one of these people
go to Jenns blog 101 and she tells you how to fix it.
Just think of how many lovely thoughts we may have missed out on.

Now you've seen all my fun,
why don't you hop on over to Julia's
and see what the others have done
this wednesday.
You never know what you might learn.

  1. Hi Vonny,

Oh, you gave me a good laugh with goopy hair! I love molding paste and have used it with stencils. I just added the color I wanted to use to the molding paste and the painting and texture is done in one step! Very fun.

Your lady looks great so far.

    Happy WOYWW

  2. Well damn it Von, now I have another art supply and different medium to try. It looks like so much fun!! Texture would be awesome to add to a painting!! Your "woman with hat turned to the right" is brilliant even half done, I can't wait to see the finished piece, I see a turquoise hat, will there be a lime sash??? Hehehehe.
    Much love my friend,
    Jenn

Now that's something else I'd like to try. But when am I ever going to get to all this stuff??? (Sigh!)

  6. I don't even own that many brushes, but I have at least that many fingers (grin). I guess the no-reply is OK with me, since my e-mail isn't working anyway!

  8. Ah the goopp and the gooping. A very familiar story; you didn't mention that it tastes yucky! Ilove that you're exploring stuff that you've seen on other blogs, I hope WOYWW has helped with that..it's the highbrow reason for WOYWW!!!

  10. I will go check out if I am missing out, thanks for the tip. I use a stuff made by KV art or Dala as they are known on their lable called acrylic Texture paste and it does the same as your goop...love that stuff!

  18. ROFL ROFL ROFL I really did laugh out loud Vonny! Hilarious post! Reminds me of when I had a brain scan a few years ago and they stuck electrodes all over my head, and it took me a week to get all the glue out of my hair!! It's funny with art, though, how the goopiness and paint tends to find its way everywhere but on the canvas, isn't it!!

Have you tried Polyfilla One Fill (known as Joint Compound in the US, not sure what in Australia) - for texture making and general goopiness? You get it in DIY and builders' stores. It's a lot, lot cheaper than moulding paste and works really well. It's for filling cracks in walls etc., and comes in a tub, ready made, and is a fine white paste that dries without cracking or shrinking and takes texture really well too.

I think sometimes we never grow up. The most fun we have is making a mess with painty stuff, just like in kindergarten! I used to get into awful trouble for drawing on the walls, too - and then when I grew up I painted murals instead!#

  19. PS Sorry Vonny - got so carried away laughing at your goopiness that I forgot to say thanks for your lovely comment on my blog - downsizing is a nightmare isn't it. Talk about 100 gallon oil drum into pint pot... We'll get there in the end. At least we've got some time.

  27. I used to run a nursery/preschool and I spent hours encouraging the children to get gloop everywhere. I'm not sure all the parents approved, but, boy did we have some fun!
Your lady is coming on a treat. Glad you are enjoying creating her.

I have blog candy on offer so feel free to sign up to be in with a chance to win.

  30. That looks fab and sounds like a whole heap of fun. I intend to paint some furniture for my craftroom this week, so I expect I will find out whether the paint I bought comes out of hair, skin, clothes and everything else that happens to be close at the time. (hope the dog has the sense to stay away. LOL)
I love the look of the lady so far.
    Happy belated WOYWW

  33. I'm really late getting round to everyone this week! Thanks for stopping by my blog though. You have given me a good chuckle over the goop everywhere. I totally get it, I usually do the same but don't realise I've got paint halfway up the brush handle and end up looking like The Joker with an extra wide (painted on) smile.... LOL
