At last my poor little bird
is headless no more.
As well as his head I've done some
tinkering. I've repainted the green feathers
and re inked them and darkened, with inks,
the area above his tail, to make it disappear a little.
Still lots more to do, re brighten the flowers,
give him a foot before he falls off the canvas
and do the highlights on his face,
but I'm getting there.
My desk has some goodies on it this week.
My hubby was over in Scotland with school rugby
in the Easter holidays and he brought
back some Scottish things and some wonderful things
I'm not the only one excited by Doctor Who goodies,
Nessie was so excited that she is swooning in the back ground.
Gotta love a hubby that knows what you like :)
This is above my window and I keep forgetting to
show it, my prize from Lunch Lady Jan
has a permanent home above my desk.
It's Christmas every day now!
Here's the wide shot of my WIP's.
See that blah canvas in the middle,
this morning it was like this
Then it went to this
and ended up like this
Ewww!! I have to get the back ground all cacky
so that the birds I'm going to put on really stand out.
I'm not convinced it's going to work but my teacher
said to trust her, hmmm.
On top of all this weirdness my crazy pelican is
even crazier.
I hate how the beak turned out but I am going to
use glazes to correct the bad smooshing.
Sigmond's (that's the pelican) dark feathers
are actually purple so the whole thing ties in,
I just can't get the photo right with the phone camera.
This will either be an epic fail
or a crazy fun painting, not sure which yet.
That's pretty much all of interest I've done
this week, so now you've seen mine
hop over to Julia's
and see what's been happening on
other desks around the world.
I don't think I'd call any of that 'failing' - it all looks fabulous! The pelican (sorry, Sigmond) is gorgeous. Love your tardises (tardi?!) too. Helen 5

Hello Vonny. I rather think Sigmond has a smirk on his face - whatever does he get up to when you are not around to look after him??!! That parrot picture is simply stunning - those colours are so vibrant. WOW!!! Well done to hubby for the gifts he brought home with him! brilliant.

I'm so glad I found your site: Wow!!! Love your birds <3 I'm a bird lover too and I love to draw and sketch them as well. But I have to say, I have never attempted to draw that big, so really, I am in awe :)
ReplyDeleteAbout that Pelican: The first thing I thought was - what cool way to paint the beak :)))

Von, Thanks so much for your visit and lovely comments, it is so encouraging to have nice remarks.
ReplyDeleteI love your bird, with a head, he look ready to fly off the page, and the flowers look as if I could pick them. Brilliant, you are really good at this.

Vonny, your art is extraordinary... I am always totally amazed by what you do! I love your latest beautiful bird, and your whole creative space is so full of interest!
ReplyDeleteI want to make some bunting for my ARTHaven eventually, and hadn't decided where to put it until I saw your picture - over the window would be ideal!
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, and I really laughed at your chicken trying to eat your painting! It might be interesting to put a wet canvas out with lots of paint on it, and see what work of art she comes up with, stamping about on it with her feet!!! Cats are the nosiest creatures on earth and Beatrice is the nosiest of the nosiest.
I have a lot of plans for the teabags, but to start with I am working on a page in my little art journal, and I want to make some little bags (tea bags?!) - who knows, if I keep on getting supplies, I may start making them into clothes and soft furnishings lol! As for the video editing, I have been most of 2 days at it and am really getting to grips with it now, with some fantastic online help - the first video went up to Youtube last night and all being well I should get another one up tonight. It takes simply ages, but it's something to do while you wait for mixed media stuff to dry!!
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #43
