Steamed up for WOYWW

It's been a long hot summer,
ending with a huge bang
in the form of ex cyclone Oswald.

That one hurt, my post about it is here.

I am finally back to WOYWW
after what seems years, although it's only months.

Here is my desk today

Yes, I know it's a mess and I wish I could blame the cyclone
but you all know what a grot I am, so there's no point
trying to blame a puff of wind.

On the left in the little wheelie bin are some really cool
little gifts that my wonderful friend in England gave me
when she visited in November last year.

I am a mad Doctor Who fan and these pencils and pen
are just the bees knees.

The painting on my desk is of my new best friend,
the Shark steam cleaner!

I live right by the sea, I couldn't have picked a place with sand,
oh no, I had to live by the mud flats, sticky, gooey, dirty brown,
blow in the wind, mud flats.  So you can imagine what my
white walls and white floors house looks like most of the time.
I can never keep up with the housework.  In the old days, when I was working,
I had two cleaners come twice a week and it was always clean then,
but retirement and age have caught up with me and
it gets cleaned as much as I can when I can.

That was until I found this little sucker, it is so much fun.
I spent a whole day just going around the house
steam cleaning all of my skirting boards (it's a big house).

I've been cleaning window sills, mirrors, you name it I've steamed it.
You can attach a hose and reach all sorts of places,
usually places that I didn't realise were so dirty,
hey I'm short, what I can't see I don't normally clean.

The only thing I keep forgetting is that steam is hot and travels upwards.
It gets a little hairy when you forget and start to clean with the wand thingy and
aim downwards.  I must have the the best steam cleaned arms in town.

But enough of my steamy fun, today I have returned
to What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday
and you've seen what is on my desk,
now may I suggest you have a look at
and see what everyone else
has on their desk today.

Happy desk hopping everyone.

  1. You must love to clean, cause if I lived there, my carpet would be the same color as the mud flats, lol I can embrace brown if neccessary! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥

  2. interesting sounding cleaning tool...might have to look into one of those. I live in a land of red dirt and sand so every thing around here has a rusty patina. It wasn't until I took some pictures down that I realized how true that is! The wall behind the frame was definitely a different color! I love Dr. Who too! Thanks for sharing and have a great week! 3. You have been busy, a steam cleaner sounds a good Idea.
Must look into that as our dog Poppy and a teenager combined can make quite a mess at times :0)

  6. Firstly, poor you going through all that cyclone trauma....I know you said or were lucky but it's still a huge undertaking to repair all that was damaged.....
Well, that's the first painting of a steam cleaner I've seen, lol!! I have one too and it's invaluable, I wouldn't be without it now and I am the biggest housework hater in the land!

  7. Oh dear, you went through a cyclone? Glad you are alright. Hope you did not have too much damage.
Now tell me, why a picture of a steam cleaner? I know you love it ad have been mega busy with it but still in a fog as to why you paint it. Maybe because it has transformed your life so much, oh I get it.

Now where did you get those awesome Dr Who things from? I have a friend in the States who is also Dr Who crazy and it would be cool to get him some.

    Hugs, Neet xx 11

  13. Hi Von,

Oh, I hope all the damage from the cyclone has been taken care of. It seems that things like cyclones, fires, earthquakes are happening more frequently.

I don't think your desk is messy at all. I must admit, I was wondering what the painting was so immediately made your photos bigger. I LOL when I saw it was your new steamer! I bought a Shark steamer for floors and LOVE it. I can use it on my tiles and if I move somewhere that has wood floors I can use it on those too.

    Thanks for visiting me already!

    Happy WOYWW (and welcome back)!

  16. Our grandson has a genuine Dr Who sonic screwdriver from the programme, a very cherished possession. His dad also made a Tardis for his bedroom. I hope you are recovering from that awful hurricane. It must have been a terrible experience for you. Hope your steam cleaning makes things feel better. xx Maggie#42

  17. Love the Dr Who bits ... very cool!
I think I need one of those cleaners, and not because we live by the sea, I wish we did though :)
