Sorry I've been missing
for a few weeks,
it was with good reason.
My wonderful mum passed away
a few weeks ago
and it's been a sad time for us.
Luckily my brother came out
for a visit from
Canada and got to spend
Canada and got to spend
two lovely weeks with mum.
I'm now back to painting
as She'll send a bolt of lightening
down if I don't.
Here is my usual messy desk
this week
You can see my cool Dalek
that little miss gave me for
Christmas
and a pillow that my brother gave me.
Cheeky devil!!
You can also see my
Loch Nessie that Neesie sent me
and my Cotman watercolours
that I still haven't opened (sigh).
I think I've finished my last birdie painting
but still not sure if I'm happy with it
Does it look too yellow?
I've started a new canvas in class
and yes it's another bird!!
I've actually also done the feathers and
the leaves
but dummy here forgot
to take more photos
and it's at class (doh).
I piped the flowers etc on
with paint mixed into
gloop (texture paste)
and then it will be inked,
painted and glazed.
On a bright note,
I've cashed in my flybuys points
and bought a new camera.
I can only hope it's blonde proof
and when it arrives I can finally
take a decent photo.
Here's hoping.
That's it for me,
so why not hop on over to
and see what's on everyones
workdesk this wednesday.
Wow What is a beautiful painting

Dear Vonny, that painting is just gorgeous - those colours are so very vivid. I'm amazed you have had time to do any painting at all - even with SHE around. I so nearly emailed about a fortnight ago as I hadn't seen you around - but remembered your brother was due down... so didn't. I'm so sorry about your mum - you have helped her in so many ways recently, and have done all you could to make her well and comfortable. May God bless you with His peace at this time. What a joy to know your brother spent such good time with you all.
ReplyDeleteTake care.

ReplyDeleteHello Vonny, I am so sorry to hear about your Mother's passing. Your paintings is something you know she loved and you are giving her what she wants by continuing to paint. Your paintings are just beautiful and she will be smiling down upon you.

I'm sorry for your loss, always hard to bear when you lose your Mum but a brother is a wonderful person to have by your side when times are bad. Beautiful painting and the one you are working on looks like it's going to be a stunner.

I am so sorry to hear you lost your mum, it must be a difficult time still.
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are amazing and beautiful and what a clever idea to pipe the texture paste I'm going to steal that idea and have a go if that's ok?

So sorry to hear your sad news about your mum, we send thoughts and hugs and hope that art is proving therapeutic at this time. The bird painting is stunning.

Your artwork is amazing, I love your parrot painting and I'm sure I will like the new one as well. Sorry to hear about your mum, I hope your painting is helping you through this sad time. Big hugs, Happy WOYWW, Cindy #58
ReplyDeleteI am so sad for you... So sorry about your Mum :0(
ReplyDeleteBut my Mum would do the same if I stopped painting for long too... she's be willing me to get back to it and I must say that you have come back with a BANK!!! What an amazing piece! It's what I'd call 'smack me in the face good'!! Wow! And both of them are awesome. And it doesn't matter how good you are, you will never be happy - that's an Artist's trait! :0)
Hmm... I really should've spell checked before sending! BANG, not bank! And she'd be!!! Duh!
ReplyDeleteI love the energy in your parrot painting, and the pink flowers are looking amazing. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum. May the peace of the Lord be with you and your family.
ReplyDeleteAh Vonny, I'm so sorry for your loss, and I love the fact that she would be cross to know that you weren't painting..bet she was your number one supporter, huh. I didn't see yellow first, I feel I'm seeing lots of green! Why is that?! I LOVE the texture on the new canvas, how clever are you!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, Vonny...that seems quite sudden? It just takes your whole world away...my mum died nearly two years ago and I think about her every single day still. Good for you for painting again...she would have wanted you to. When I get dog days, I hear my mum saying 'Now come on Jan, pull yourself together and go out and DO something'!!
ReplyDeleteSending big healing hugs,

So sorry for you loss - losing mom is always a tough one. Hope your art provides you some solace.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest sympathies, Vonny. I, too, am in mourning. My mother passed away February 15 so it is also a sad time for us. But we have the hope of eternal life and this is our greatest consolation.
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are just awesome. No wonder your mum would want you to keep painting.
Happy WOYWW!
Hugs,

Oh Von I'm so sorry...I hope you and your family find solace together.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking painting is just what she would have wanted you to immerse yourself in...and it looks amazing both the parrot and the new canvas.
I love the texture on the new canvas and you're making me think going to a class might actually give me time and inspiration that I need.
I lost my Mum just over 3 years ago and it's tough. Each day something will come to mind or you'll be reminded of her but that's as it should be...we just have to work out how to cope without them being with us physically.
Be brave and know that we are all thinking of you.
Take care xoxo

I'm so very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. {{{hug}}} What a sad time for you and your family. The pillow from your brother is funny and the flowers on your new canvas are super cool. ~ Laura #14 [http://bookworm.typepad.com/]
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your Mum, Vonny. I know exactly how you are feeling, having lost Dad in December. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteYour latest painting is truly gorgeous - so vibrant and dramatic, and I love how the shapes swirl and merge into the bird's head. It's amazing! I love the new one too, and look forward to seeing more of this. I haven't tried piping with texture paste but it looks a great technique to try.
I haven't managed to join in WOYWW this week as my sister came yesterday and I was too busy, and then too exhausted. I haven't had much opportunity to be in my ARTHaven all week, but I have managed a short session in there today (details on my blog) doing some new teabag art!
Thinking of you, and hope you get through the coming weeks OK.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad your brother was able to be there. And it's good you know she is watching over you still. You and your family are in my thoughts are prayers.

First off, I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I hope as time passes, things will get easier. I lost my dad about 2 years ago. It's getting easier but I feel like I miss him more and more, as time passes.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely paintings. You have a beautiful style. Hugs
Sorry about your mom. *hugs* Glad you had some visiting time with your brother, though. (That pillow is great!)
ReplyDeleteIt's okay to have a lot of yellow. What's wrong with that? :)
I hope you find your art good therapy. Looking forward to more pictures of your works in progress. :)
Vonny, thanks so much for your return visit to look at my latest teabag art - so glad you like it! I just had to go with what the pattern made by the teabag was saying, and not to go crazy and cover the whole thing up with zentangles! Yes, they are small (the smallest zentangles I've ever done) but with the magnifier, it really wasn't too bad! I can't believe how much potential for art can be found in the humble tea bag, and I now regret all the hundreds of builders' teabags that were just thrown away during the 6 months while our new house was being renovated! I am keen to try machine embroidery on them, and I am planning a small layout in my little art journal.
ReplyDeleteHope you are coping OK, and that you are able to enjoy a good weekend. We're off to a barn dance at church tonight - I've made a trifle for the shared supper!!

It is hard times with the passing of a parent. I lost my Mom and Dad in the same year and even though it has been 20 years it still stings some days. Love the birds. I don't think the one is too yellow..gives emphasis to the blues and greens. I love the pinks in the new one. Looking forward to seeing it next week. Thanks for sharing and have a creative week.
