We are in the last week of school holidays
and so I thought I would try to do the weekly challenge
for Inspiration Avenue and have
something decent to show everyone
for WOYWW.
Should have known better.
The theme for IA was butterflies, sounds simple enough
but I wanted to try mixed media.
Out came my trusty journal and I was off.
I cut out a butterfly shape and some butterfly music
and had this good idea (seemed good at the time)
to make up the butterfly with lots of little butterflies.
After cutting out about twenty little butterflies, I got fed up and changed tack.
I lightly water coloured the butterfly and glued it to the journal,
then coloured the journal and glued on the music
and now it is getting a bit yuck
(so are my fingers, with the glue).
Then came the next bright idea
to use glitter glue and gel pens,
getting worse!!
So I place the little butterflies on the page,
looking a bit better, until
without thinking, I have a blonde moment and
blow away some crayon dust and
all the little butterflies
flutter about the room.
Time to give up for the day I think.
I am happy to show the picture today
as it will probably be totally different by
the time I put it on IA on friday
(that's also if it makes it to IA at all).
Here is my desk today
and
here is my poor little butterfly
(prior to the blowing incident)
Think I should stick to painting!
On a brighter note
schools back next week,
so I won't have the
500 interruptions that
I had today. :)
OMGosh, this is amazing. I'm in love and if you use it for IA, I'm sure you will win the prize for the week. Regardless, I'll see you there on Friday. Happy WOYWW from #1.

You have a lot of patience to cut out all those butterflies. The blowing incident will get those butterflies everytime.

awesome page! Don't sweat the small stuff this is looking great! Have a great week and thanks for sharing! Vickie #33
ReplyDeleteHI Vonny, thanks for stopping by and commenting on my canvas. You are right I did use a stencil then piled on the gesso smoothed it with a paddle pop stick and let it dry. It is a technique I use on canvas all the time to get some dimension etc. This will be another butterfly canvas for one of my DD friends.
ReplyDeleteFabulous desk, love your butterfly
ReplyDeleteLOL... that's the sort of thing I would do... forgetting that its not all glued down and giving it a good blow!! Love the artwork on your butterfly with the music in the background.
ReplyDeleteJust dropping by to peek at your desk :) Have a super week! -dianneo #123
ReplyDeleteYour butterfly is beautiful. As are all the little butterflies fluttering about your desk! It was a great idea -- would love to see it finished.

I've had some moments like that too. Your butterfly is cute so far! I can't wait to see it finished :)

I like the little flock of butterflies above your art piece. They look so happy there, if only they could stay. Blowing or brushing off all my pieces is a favorite technique of mine too. It is extra special if you can get your pieces under the wheels of your desk chair. I like the idea of the butterflies and music.
ReplyDeleteDon't give up, you will make it wonderful - if you can paint like that you can make anything look brilliant, I wish i was half as talented Have a good week Lou x
ReplyDeleteOh, I've had those give up moments. I had one yesterday, but thankfully, the pizza man came so I had to walk away to eat dinner! It looks pretty so far though, don't give up completely, just a short break!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW (on Monday!)

Ohhh I see you have gone back to the butterfly and painted up a storm since this post!! LOL you are right, the zinged up brighter version seems to be how butterflies like to exist!
