Wow, I can't believe two months have gone
by since I last posted, time flies.
I've been painting and gooping up a storm
and I'm currently working on
six canvasses.
Here is one room full of desks,
There are five on the go in here,
one is hiding, that's the portrait of my girls.
and one in here. This is zombie bird, until I paint in the face.
There are lots of pics on the desk, that's where I put
things together to make ideas for canvasses.
These guys have all gone to new homes
and have left me with no stocks, hence the mad
painting frenzy going on.
My teacher invented a new technique which is
called gesso soup. I'm currently trying to learn
how to do a good gesso soup but since I'm a hopeless
cook, my soup isn't doing too well.
This background is gesso soup and I'm going to goop the bird,
then ink. I was having all sorts of problems gooping
the birdies bum today. Well, I have to say, it's no fun
putting a palette knife up where the sun don't shine!!
My latest jellies have gesso soup coral.
I think that worked quite well, I just can't get
a good photo. It's really bright colours, honestly.
I'll keep it short and sweet this week,
mainly cos little miss has an orthodontics appointment
and I have to go (darn kids).
Now you've seen mine, have a look at some
other desks around the world at
Enjoy!
Wow wow wow! what fantastic artwork :)

That's a cool perspective you used in your new parrot composition. That Gesso Soup sounds intriguing. Blessings, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHi Von,
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful colours (and clever use of them) is always stunning! I imagine that o/s visitors marvel over our pretty birds, but I love the flowers!
(The Smash books are worth getting, but only if you find them for half price, or less, as I did! Now I really must stop staring at them and DO something with them.)
Thanks for dropping by earlier!
Gorgeous! I've missed your colorful art - glad you're back. Congrats on the all the sales. :-)

Stunning work and I'm not surprised your birds flew off to new homes so quickly, I bet the paint was barely dry before they were snapped up! I love the new birdie and I can't get over how realistic the branches are - I'm sure I could put my hand out and feel the roughness and fibres on them - just amazing work. I'm intrigued by gesso soup - as I so often take a swig from my water pot rather than my cup of tea (by accident I hasten to add) I feel gesso soup might not be a good idea in my studio!! I hope you have a great week and thanks so much for stopping by earlier.

You are a very busy painter Vonny - 6 on the go but I suppose that means as one takes time to dry the goop soup, you're onto the next. They are all magical anyway, I love your work, the colours and subjects beautiful. Have you ever thought to paint a kookaburra? Cheers and enjoy your week RobynO#29
ReplyDeletethese all look so amazing, and I am kind of smiling that you have 6 going at once. ( must be a drying time thing right?) ~Stacy #66
ReplyDeleteWell I just LOVE your goop soup Vonny! Particularly the coral! I'm so envious of how productive you've been... I've been productive too, but not with paint. I've spent lots of time building a new website and realise now that because that's sucked up so much time, I have little left to put on it!! Still, it's done now and I can't wait to get back in to the studio. Yours is a feast for the eyes!!
ReplyDeleteSix at once, you are a busy lady, and they'll all be gorgeous, for sure and certain. Now that you've shown bits of each one, you'll have to show us the finished pieces, too--maybe you'll get that soup perfected, yes?
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by this woyww, I appreciate your visit. The daughter-in-law is fortunate enough to have a grandfather who has the knowledge and tools and supplies for those lamps, so she's taking a class, too, in a manner of speaking!
(And I'm not throwing any stones for you missing two months, I was gone for who knows how many!)
wow, you've got a lot of projects going on. also looks like a great lace you have and lots of light flooding in. The blue canvas is my favorite. from the other side of the world, butterfliecrafter#8
ReplyDeleteHi Vonny. Lovely to see you here this week - I'd been popping over here every little while to see how you were, and hoped all was well. It appears all was VERY well - manic painting sessions it seems, to produce 6 at once. I think that would send John into a proper tizz - he likes to work on just the one. I've suggested doing more while waiting for things to dry.... nothing doing. This work is just stunning, Vonny. Amazing colours - real vibrance - and I love the idea of the goop soup! looking forward to seeing them completed.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by. Yes, John has a scooter - couldn't go out without it. The only disadvantage is its weight - which I must lift to get it in and out of the car. At least it comes apart... If you pop back a few posts on my site then you will see John, on his scooter, with an owl!!
Take care, my friend. God bless.

Your paintings are always stunning and your names for techniques "goop /soup" is classic. The thought of doing 6 painting on the go at once leaves me breathless. Well done for selling your artwork.

I love that you're working on six different pieces at once - I love having more than one on the go - it helps keep it all fresh. I'm intrigued to know more about gesso soup and what exactly gooping is!! Congrats on the sales and no wonder - amazing art full of vibrant colours!
